My 2 month old laptop (E5-473 series / Model N15C1) plays music but speakers do not work ?

I have tried playing music for the first time and the Volume Mixer shows music is playing (pulsing green) but no sound from the speakers.

I tried entering my SNID into Acer Support and they replied my SNID is out of warranty period but I only purchased 2 months ago ?

Any help greatly appreciated,

Cheers,

Shane

Make sire the speakers are not muted. If the little speaker in the tray has a red circle and line across, it is muted.

Right click on the speaker in the tray and select Playback devices.

You should have a green check mark on the speaker. If not, click the speaker to highlight it and click Set Default.

If they still don't work, go to Control Panel and uninstall the Realtec audio driver, reboot and install this driver.

Who did you buy from? Warranty starts at time of purchase.

I am quite sure the speakers are not muted.

I uninstalled Realteck and reinstalled and no difference.

Not sure why where I purchased makes a difference ( a major department store in NE Thailand) ?

I went to www.acer.com for Support help - entered my SNID  and it told me I was out out of warranty and would have to pay for any support.

Rang the Thailand phone number on my warranty, gave them my SNID and they said my warranty is valid until June 2017 ?

So much for customer support from the parent company !!!

Are you still running Windows 8.1 or did you upgrade to Windows 10?

Open Control Panel/Troubleshooting and run the "Troubleshoot Audio Playback troubleshooter in Hardware and Sound.

Go to Realtek and run the autodetect and see what it comes up with.

    Philetus,

Thank you for your help but nothing is working.

I went to the link you gave me and I have to pay US$29.95 to register so it can update the 18 drivers I have that are supposedly outdated.

I bought the laptop 2 months ago and my programs are outdated already ?

I have had HP for the past 20 years (thought I would try something different)  and based on the total lack of support from Acer I think I will throw this one out the window and go back to HP,

    Cheers,

    Shane

you said acer.com....but this is the worldwide portal, have you entered the SNID on

    http://www.acer.co.th/ac/th/TH/content/support
    too?

if you plug headphones, can you hear any sound?

    IronFly,

With headphones I get static noise but no music.

I have contacted Acer support in Thailand and if I take my laptop 120 kms they will have a technician look at it.

Generally sending a laptop / computer in for repairs is what happens after prolonged use, not what one expects when purchasing a brand new item ?

    Cheers,

    Shane

Yes, no one will expect to have issues on a brand new thing....but, you know, even very luxury cars can have issues.

Static noise even on headphones is not a good sign, probably something is wrong on the motherboard or headphone plug/speakers connection.

time to send it to Acer service.
