Aspire fingerpad sticking

Fingerpad keeps sticking (yes I know about the FnF7 release but having to do this around every 10 characters is not a solution). Acer say its due to a Windows 8 update but this has been a problem since I first purchased the aspire in February. Acer have suggested removing a programme from but I don't actually have that programme installed. Then suggested I did a system restore, this did not resolve the problem. After a time the cursor starts jumping randomly around the text I have been typing... more than frustrating! Acer say it's a known problem but don't seem to be able to help me resolve it. Any one experienced the same problem and solved it? Please don't mention the FnF7 release as I know that.

What model do you have?

What operating system are you running?

Have you tried loading the latest touchpad driver from our website?

Have you tried disabling the tap to click setting for your touchpad to see if it helps?

It's an E3 112 Running Windows 8.1 with Bing.

Tried loading the driver, wouldn't complete

Wasn't aware of the tap to click setting.

Have done system recovery, would not complete.

Have had various emails from Acer support that either weren't particularly relevant, didn't give enough information and ultimately didn't help at all. They are insisting it is a fault due to a software update (even said it was a known fault but there is only an interim solution and their solution didn't help me. I have had this fault since I first started using the computre.

Spoke to Acer support on the phone who have said return it for repair.

Personally I don't think it's ever been fit for purpose but guess I have to go along the repair route.

There was a Windows update last week or the week before that caused touchpad issues. The solution was to remove the Intel Technology Access program. There is a link with instructions at http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/35211. If that does not resolve the issue, it could be a hardware problem. Does it behave the same way if you hook an external mouse?

If it was happening from day 1, it may not be an issue with the update Clyde is talking about. If changing sensitivity settings, disabling tap to click, and recovery do not resolve the issue, you probably should try to send the system for repair.

Acer advised removing that programme but on attempting it I wasn't able to find it on the 'remove programme' list. The link they provided simply told you how to remove a programme (which I know how to do). When I told them that I couldn't identify it on the 'remove programme' list, I didn't get a response from them.

It works fine with a mouse - told them this, they ignored that too.

I bought it in February, I initially asked for a repair and was refused. Ultimately after weeks (of me persisting and pressing for a resolution), they are now offering to repair it. Personally I don't think it was ever 'fit for purpose' and I should get a refund. They have outright refused this. Because I am currently living between two houses and renovating one I haven't had the time to print out the return details and arrange courier collection.

So sorry for the problems you are having and the negative experience with support. I'm hoping that repair will get your system fixed properly so it meets your needs.

The problem with repair is that it means I am without a computer, through no fault of my own. No compensation is offered. Also, if I hadn't pressed and pressed for a resolution I wouldn't even have been offered the repair. I don't have any confidence in the repair anyway I am absolutely certain they will either not be able to repair it or blame it on a software issue.
