Hi all. I have an Aspire e1-470P running windows 8.1. The recent Windows update left me with a black screen after update. I was able to roll back and try to update the driver but it said no new driver availacle for the intel 4000 driver. I rebooted and went back into the black screen. This time I was unable to roll back to any restore point.

I went into safe mode and deleted the existing Intel 4000 HD Display driver.

I rebooted and now had a low res display, but when I rebooted again without safe mode the PC still went to black screen after log in.

I have tried restore again and been unable to get to an earlier restore point.

Aside from uninstalling all 300+ windows updates I don't know what to do.

ACER: What news do you have on conflicts between the Intel 4000 HD and the recent Windows Updates?

This is my home business PC and I have been trying to fix this for 2 days. Please Help!!!!!!

John

    johnjtraynor,

If you are not having luck with system restore, you might try a refresh to see if there are some corrupt Windows files that need fixing. Should that fail, you should be able to sort the Windows updates by installation date and remove them that way, rather than all at once.

If that fails, you might need to take the bigger step and restore it, hopefully it gets resolved before it comes to that.
