I have had my notebook for 10 days.  The cursor jumps so badly that the computer is almost unusable for anything but reading email or web browsing.  The only way I can prevent the cursor from jumping is to dsiable the touchpad by using Fn+F7.  There is no sensitivity setting in the Mouse properties.  How do I fix this without spending money to filx a brand new computer?

Go to Device Manager, uninstall the driver for the touchpad, reboot, and let Windows install the default driver. See how that works. If you need to, you can reinstall the Acer driver, whichever touchpad you have.I'm guessing it's 8.1.

OMG, Philetus, you rock!.  Simply deleting the driver and allowing windows (8.1) to reinstall the driver for the Elan touchpad worked the first time after rebooting. I didn't have to download new drivers.   I've been typing for 15 minutes to make sure I'm not just in a lucky streak.  Thank you, thank you, thank you.  The problem was making me nuts!

I recently purchased an Acer E5-571G and see that is not running function scroll.I installed all the drivers for touchpad possible, and all version of Windows, but  in Device Manager appear: PS / 2 Compatible Mouse- Microsoft Manufactured instead of Elantech or Synaptics. This model has or not a touchpad with advanced features (scroll sensivity, etc.)Thanks!

The touchpad is not manufactured by MS. It is Elantech or Synaptics. It just has a default driver installed.
