Does the E5-575-52JF (i5-6200u CPU) support a m.2 nvme drive?
Is there a specific version of BIOS required?

Hi,
Install HWINFO64, expand Bus, expand PCI Bus, highlight PCI Express Root Port and look for Maximum Link width, if it's 2x, you can use a NVMe SSD, I don't think you need a BIOS update.

maximum link width : 1x
Current Link Width: 1x
but port 5 (the last port) with
Maximum Link Width: 4x
Current Link Width: 4x
Maximum Link Speed: 5.0 GT/s
Current Link Speed: 2.5 GT/s
Slot Power Limit: 25.000 W
so my laptop support m.2 nvme or not ?

EDIT: Could you please post the HWiNFO64 snip of that PCI Express Port expanded and showing the Maximum Link width Speeds, if you can, expand all the Ports, I would like to check why the speed showing as 5.0GT/s.

Yes, you can use NVMe SSD or SATA M.2 SSD, both will work, you will not notice the difference between them but NVMe fares better only when you transfer large files, NVMe will work at half the speed advertised by the manufacturers, still 3x the SATA III drive.

From lshw i dont see the above data ..any suggestions?
2. btw my latop mode is E5-575-50RM one. Can i assume all E15 series models have provision for m.2 SSD slot first of all

Could you please check whether your model is E5-575G, if so, yes you can install NVMe SSD but make sure that your Maximum Link width has the value of at least 2x.

I am not familiar with Linux, you may have to wait for someone who is familiar with Linux systems to answer, sorry.
As for the second question, yes you have a slot for M.2 SSD.
