My computer has crashed and I am trying to purchase recovery disks but I cant find my Serial number and the little sticker they say contains it is missing from my computer.. the sticky part is there just the readale portion is missing.. why would they stick it on the outside on the bottom where it can get rubbed off if it was so important.. but sorry thats a different unimportant question.. mine is what do I do now to get recovery disks without the serial number?

I know where the sticker is but it is not readable. it is a sticky little smear. the computer has crashed and in the process of trying to restart it to factory settings it has told me that the required cd/dvd  drive device driver is missing so I cannot even get to the C: drive to find the number there. I bought my pc last year in July so the warrenty is valid but without the  number I cannot even get help on figureing out how to wipe the harddrive and reinstall the operating system.. Perhaps you know what to do about this ?  Sorry I should have been more detailed in my original wording of the issue. Thanks.

BIOS also has serial number for system

any idea how to get to BIOS on my machine or where I might look to learn how to do it. Thanks so much for the ideas so far.

Press F2 or Delete when system starts to boot.  words on bottom of screen tell you what to do
