i picked up an older m1640 tower yesterday. i proceeded to install my windows 7 on it and searched the internet for the motherboard drivers.

the acer support downloads gives me intel and nvidea drivers but the motherboard has an sis chipset and according to what i can find uses totally different drivers. the code on the mobo is N15235 sis  SIS 672 + 968 with sis mirage 3 graphics.

so what drivers do i use? the ones recomended by acer or the sis ones from sis? why didnt acer know this?

Perhaps the mobo has been replaced, and is not the original Acer one? Did it have any of the Acer software preinstalled?

I'd try the SIS drivers first.
