I have an acer desktop pc (not a laptop) and I can get to my login screen for windows 7 but after logging on the screen goes black and just my cursor is showing. I've read countless forums and tried everything on them to no avail. I found this site but most of the repair options relate to laptops. Is there anything else I can do? I have no driver issues, resolution issues, or the latter. It's possible a file is corrupt or viral but my windows repair didn't show anything either. Task manager solutions didn't do anything either. I'm beyond frustrated now as I can't back up my files to try a complete eRecover option...HELP!

the only way is to recover a restore point where you are sure the OS worked or do a complete OS reinstall loosing your data.

(if you are able to burn a linux live cd, like ubuntu; maybe you can recover some files from HDD)
