So after trying boot sector repairs and re installing windows 7 thru formating as well as attempting to use the recovery disks I figure the hard drive is done. I have a Acer Apire x1420g (the compact desktop version). I was wondering if maybe I should try buying acer's recovery disks first before replaing the HD? otherwise my main question is will it matter if i get a better hd than what came with it, like a sata 3 64mb cache 6gb transfer?
