I think I misunderstood, u meant adapter to connect laptop.....I will try partition n process

you plug in the HDD to the adapter, then you plug the power adapter in and attach to the HDD, then attach ti USB Cable to the Adapter and plug it in... you should hear a CHING, that the USB is seen, if you can not see the HDD now, in your list, that means it need to be initalized... that can be accomplished by open Disk Management - let the module load and then you should see a new HDD that shows - select it and initialize it, next format it, next set it to Active..... now you should be able to see in as a External HDD - select eject the HDD or USB Device. unplug all the cables, put your adapter up. then insert the HDD into you Computer and follow the Restore, the RESTORE Program will Format as it needs, set all partitons as needed and install your OS... it then will/should auto reboot into the HDD and you will see almost exactly as the Factory Sent.... just follow all instructions.. like when it was NEW

if you use Diskpart just follow the instructions. since you only have 1 HDD then really hard to MESS things up.

so I typed in "diskpart" and then "list disk" It provides the following information: Disk 0 Online 937 gb Disk 1 No media Disk 2 No media Disk 3 No media Disk 4 No media Disk 5 No media I see no mention of "Disk N" or you mean take note of the number beside it >> please clarify before I proceed thank you again

selected disk part and followed prompts and made active, that did not take away windows error message originally having, going to try the original suggestions again

your disk is Disk 0 and n was reference to Number of disk so select disk 0 that is the only DISK you have installed and that represents a 1TB.

You should then BOOT to BIOS, and select an set the DVD or your Media Drive as 1st then HDD as #2 - boot sequence. make sure you SAVE that... then insert the media in DVD or USB which ever your media is.... then reboot it will auot selected DVD or USB which ever you selected, then install Windows , if that does not WORK then your MEDIA is Corrupt, if DVD then seggest you do a CLEAN of the DVD, since any dust, lint can cause errors... I have also found that NEVER REMOVE THE MEDIA until after THE RECOVERY is 100% complete and it Auto REBOOTS....
