I have Windows 7 (64), McAfee Internet Security, on a AX3910-U4022 Acer desktop. Windows Installer is trying to install Shredder, which is already installed (verified by McAfee). Windows installer keeps trying without success to find Shredder.msi.
This is a recurring problem. How do I stop it. Microsoft refers me to ACER for a fix

The Shredder application that you are having difficulty with appears to be part of the McAfee suite that you have installed.
Since McAfee is attempting to install either the full application, or update the application, I would suggest first UNinstalling the application completely, then reinstall it if it is something that you would like to continue using.
Additional information on McAfee Shredder is available on the McAfee web site.

Hi-
I am having the same problem and I dont have McAfee installed.
It seems Shredder is part of the WinLocker suite by EgisTech that was installed on my Acer.
I cannot find any fix to this issue.
I have gone through all the suggestions by Microsoft (clean boot, clean registry, etc)...but with no luck.
Please advise.
Thanks.

I have the same problem.
Has anyone found any solutions? Does anyone know if deleting MyWinLocker solves the problem?

Shredder has differant platforms. As other users have replied, Shredder can be a part of McAfee. It can also be a part of MyWinLockerSuite. Uninstall and should fix problem.

I have had this problem on two Acers but I noticed it didn't start until after I installed Quicken. Anyone else? I called Intuit but they said it wasn't their problem. No, it's mine!

Yes! I upgraded Quicken from 2011 to 2014 last night, played with it, rebooted (just for fun), installed Turbo Tax 2013, played with it, rebooted (also fun), left my computer on overnight, and when I sat down to my computer this morning the error was there. One way or the other Intuit software was involved.

Agree. Only started after I installed Quicken 2014. Uninstalled it. Problem stopped. Reinstalled it, problem reappeared. Thanks Intuit for forcing me to upgrade (when I didn't want to) and then reminding me of my regret everytime I start up my computer and this error appears.
