I just set up my new Acer and reallocated my hard drive so I could have a separate partition formy files separate from the OS. I left the recovery partition intact. The machine crashed , and wouldn't reboot into recovery. There's no downloadable boot files on Acer for 8.1 and teh tech online couldn't help it recognize any drives at all, so booting was impossible. I couldn't even get to the bios. I had to send my brand new machine back and wait at least 10 days for repair AND Acer wanted me to pay for shipping. I complained and they comped the shipping.
My question: How do I do this without bricking my machine? In WIN 7 it was no problem.

HI wagco2
If I read your post right, you're trying to split your hard drive in to C: (Windows) and D: Data, or adding a second hard drive for the data?
This can be done from within Windows in disk management - just like Windows 7.
If I'm completely wrong in what you're trying to do, post back and I'll see if I can help further.
