I'm using Adobe Audition and when I tried(for the 1st time) to record speech from the internet it said "Default Input(No Device Available).Is there something that is not working or do I need to download anything as I've been able to record from the internet on every other Acer machine I have had.

I have looked at all the available inputs and can't see anything glaring

Unfortunately, we're unable to support Adobe Audition, so I would be unable to speak directly toward that software configuration. 

I can only suggest setting the input device as your sound card, since you've got incoming audio from the 'net.
