Just wondering if anyone can help me out here. I have just bought a new PC, this is what I ordered:
Acer Aspire XC-605 G3220 6GB 500GB DVDRW Tower Windows 8.1 Desktop
Now, am I right in thinking that the DVDRW means that it is DVD writer?
The only thing is, I've tried burning something using Nero and it just keeps stating "Insert disc". I've tried using a CD-R and a DVD+R disc which is what I've always used in the past.
Now on checking Device Manager the Drive property states this next to the Device type:
DVD/CD-ROM drives
and states:
HL-DT-ST DVDROM DH50N
under the DVD/CD Rom drives.
Have I been sent the wrong thing? Or is there something I'm missing?
Thanks for any help.

you can find id it's a burner with nero too, just run nero info tool.
by the way, it looks as reader only.
can you post the ID of your Aspire?
something like that
DT.SRPSG.003
it must be the first part of your serial (DON'T POST the complete serial!!!)

Thanks for that, I thought as much, but the description of the item DVDRW means that there should be one? Am I right in thinking that?

The 'RW' relates to ReWritable, so yes, you'd expect the drive to be capable of burning CDs/DVDs.

| Optical Drive Type | DVD-Reader |
