I am not familiar with Windows 8.1. Used Widows 7 and Vista on my other computers.  I want to make DVDs and CDs but can't figure out how to go about it.  I can't even tell what programs are on this computer. I know apps are used a lot but I still need programs, don't I?

Thanks for the InfraRecorder info. I'd like to try what is on the computer. Can you tell me how to activate or locate that program? DVDs play with Cyberlink Power DVD 12. Thanks.

Windows 8.1 has a drag&drop system.

so you simply put a blank DVD in the DVD reader and it will ask you what you want then you can simply drag & drop a file in the DVD icon on your device and driver (under "this PC")
