I suspect my Acre Aspire X1301 Windows 7 Home Premium PC has been disabled by a virus or trojan. I deleted the Drive C: partition by placing the drive into another computer, so it now only has the recovery partition and a reserved area.
I previously created the Recovery Disks, but the system will not load them from the DVD drive when I select DVD as the first boot option.
So how can I restore the recovery partition to this PC? Can I, for example, copy the restore partition files to a thumb drive and reinstall from there? Or what? Thanks for your thoughts!

Do you have another option to boot from DVD further down on the menu after pressing F12?
If yes, use that one instead of the top DVD option.
I had the same problem re-installing from the recovery discs after I accidently deleted the boot partition of my hard-disk. This worked for me as the top option was for UEFI drives which mine isn't, nor I suspect is yours.
Hope this helps.

Unfortunately, even if I choose the DVD option, which doesn't appear all the time, the system still doesn't boot. It says Port 01: failure, etc. I think the SATA controller has died. I can't figure out whether it's handled by the CPU, or is on another chip on the motherboard.
Doesn't look good for this machine.

Ah. Can't help you there mate, sorry.
Last time I had a SATA HD and it went west I ended up ditching the whole job and buying a new machine.
