I connect my security camera DVR to the Aspire HDMI input and the picture comes in to my desktop perfectly.

Problem is getting back to my desktop screen. I log out of my DVR program and the picture goes black. No cursor flashing.

I tried using the windows key on the keyboard but screen stays black.

I have to disconnect the HDMI cable from the desktop and then my desktop screen appears. There must be a way to switch back and forth.

Have you tried pressing ALT+Tab to switch from the DVR program? What version of Windows are you running on this desktop? The program itself should have a menu or key that you can press to bring up its menu so you can exit to the desktop.
