Hello All!
I'm attempting to increase Ram from 1 2gb card to 2 2gb cards. Purchased a set of matching cards PC3-8500 DDr3-1066 240 PIN sdram DIMM...each having 2gb each. I purchased a matching set after reading of possible compatibility issues if adding 1 card to an existing card.
When the cards are installed, correctly seated and snapped in, the system will not boot. It does not recognize the cards. ?? System does power on, fan comes on, one audible beep and that's it. ;(
After removing the new card set and reinstalling the old single card, booting with no problems.
I am told that I need to install a BIOS update. As i understand~updating BIOS unnecessarily can be damaging. Did a search on the Acer website for a BIOS update that would address the issue and I didn't see one. ![]()
Maybe I'm reading it wrong.
Here are my system specifics:
Acer Veriton x 275-UD5800W
snid 12402649892
Please let me know if you need further information.
Thanks in advance for your help!!
Dana

Have you tried with a new single stick of ram, instead of mounting both?
the system is able to boot?
I would try to reset the CMOS, when you insert 2 new ram sticks.
to do that you need to tak off the power cord and take off the Motherboard battery too for 2-3 minutes at least (probably there is also a jumper in the motherboard to reset the CMOS but i can't see on web pictures).
then replace the battery, connect the power cord and boot your system to BIOS.

Hello Iron Fly!
Thanks for your fast response.
Yes, have tried a single new stick without boot success. Sorry, I should have included that in my initial post.
Will attempt the CMOS reset and report back.
Thanks bunches!

Hi Laurent_14
Thanks for the explaination. All of the previous post's info was gathered using cpu-z as I couldn't find it on my own. ![]()
I updated my Bios to the latest version P-01.C2. Still no luck with the new sticks of ram.
Looks like I'm returning them for a replacement set.
Thanks for all of your help!
