Right when I am on my desktop and just using it in general the screen will go completely blank but always be a random colour and not just blank black or white. I know its not the screen as ive had three different screens on so must be something else. Any idea what it could be as its driving me nuts

It sounds as if you have a problem with the onboard graphics. Does the computer crash when this happens or do you get any error messages?

I think the easiest solution for this, is to buy a low profile graphics card (something inexpensive will be fine) and use it instead of the onboard chip. Just check the power of the card is low, otherwise you'll need to change your power supply too!
