Hello there,
I've just purchased this Acer Aspire z5801 second hand and my problem is that it doesn't detect the Nvidia graphic card. With Nvidia's software, it says that no hardware can be found.
I've used several programme's to see if they might detect it, but all I get as GPU is the Intel HD graphics.
For the rest everything works fine. Pc is a bit noisy with the fan, but I think this is because of the fact that the Intel HD graphics are being used (have had experience with this in the old days)
So, anyone with some insight?

Hi Pleurii
Have you tried reinstalling Windows from the recovery partition (or disks)? This should right many wrongs, however, if afterwards you still have problems with the Nvidia graphics, then I suggest the card is faulty and will need replacing.

Yes, I'm about to do that today, however :
Could it be that the PCI-E slot is faulty/not working any more, instead of the graphics card? Unfortunately I don't have another card to test it with, I'll try to get one in a couple of days though.

After having installed a fresh copy of Windows 7, I also downloaded and installed the latest chipset driver from the Acer site.
Tried with both the driver (for the GPU) from the Acer site as well as the Nvidia site, no response. So it's either the card or the slote I guess. Quick question here though : when I google for this particular problem, the main response is to check whether the PSU is powerful enough and if the GPU also has a 6/10-pin connector connected to it.
Seeing as this is an All in One, should I dis-regard these checks?
Also this : is it easy / recommended to change my PSU ? Since the constant noise of the fan is kind of driving me crazy.

The reason some sites are stating that the PSU needs to be replaced, is when you change your graphics card for a more powerful one, the PSU will need to be more powerful too.
Acer will have fitted the correct components at factory, so you can disregard those - unless you change something!
The power supply can be exchanged - IF you can source a replacement. The PSU's in the all in ones are not standard, and are quite often difficult to find. Perhaps a visit to your friendly local PC guy might be in order - he may well try to source one for you!
