I have tried using the e-recovery to get my desktop back to running and it went through the entire process and when it rebooted it said missing operating system.  I ordered recovery disks from Acer and tried recovery with them, again went through every step and when it was done and restarted again I get missing operating system.  It has windows 7.  Any suggestions????

It sounds as if your hard drive may be at fault, or less likely a cable problem.  Replacing the hard drive should solve this issue.
