Just bought my first Chromebook, a CB3-111-C670. I need a security cable. The ones on hand are too large to fit the slot on the Chromebook. Can someone identify a cable that will fit? Will a Kensington work? TIA.

    Roger44,

Yes, actually, the security spot on the Chromebook is designed for Kensington locking devices.

I have a CB3-111-C670 and it does not have a security slot. There is an unlabeled slot on the right side:

But this slot does not fit a Kensington security device. This site thinks that the slot is actually a lanyard hole.

Here's what my notes show. Maybe there's more than one style of Kensington lock?

What is the source of your notes? I went to the Product Support page for the CB3-111 and clicked the User Manual link and scrolled to page 12 which does not make any mention of a Kensington lock slot:

Kensington gives dimensions for their slot to be 3mm x 7 mm, but the hole on my CB3-111 seems to be about 2 mm x 5 mm. Strange, huh?

Hoping someone can answer me on this old thread.
I too am having a problem getting a Kensington style security cable for my Acer Aspire. The slot in the side of the laptop allows my existing cable to fit in but it will not allow the lock to be turned and secured. Both my Macbook and my PC desktop use the same cable and lock and the outside appearance of the slots show as the same. The Acer has the little "Kensington" logo beside the slot.

Contacted the cable seller and they mention "Mini" lock Kensington. Can anyone confirm which cable will work?

    Thanks

I believe you are looking for Kensington Nano Security Slot. It's a smaller size they did for the newer ultrathin notebooks.
