Hello,

I am interested in purchasing an Acer R11 or R13 Chromebook but want to be able to use an SD card to expand my internal storage space? Can the SD card be formatted to be part of the internal storage that apps use on the Chromebook (does the laptop support adoptable storage)?

Thank you,

Anastasia

    Hi

An SD card is usually very slow with read/write cycles, and not intended for constant use (I know that things like the Raspberry Pi use them) and reliability is a problem.

So I would consider using a USB device, hopefully via USB3 standard, that is a holder/adapter for an SD card.  OR  The best option, but vey pricy in comparison is a caddy to hold a HDD and buy / recycle an old laptop HDD or buy a new SSD unit.

Remember as it is an add on it could be lost so encrypt it to protect whatever is on there.

    If in doubt please ask.

yes, you can use the SDcard as additional storage, just remember to format as NTFS and buy an high speed good quality SD.

    I'm not an Acer employee.
