Aspire E5-432 - upgrading stock TN HD screen for IPS FHD : which eDP cable?

I've got a non-touch screen C720 chromebook (C720-2644) and I'm looking to upgrade the internal screen to a 1080p model. I have a 1080p FHD 11.6" screen, but it appears that the eDP cable that is included with this model is a 1-lane cable. This is just a guess, because when I connect the new display, I get backlight and nothing else.  A 2-lane cable is required for FHD (1080p) screens. I'm just going to apologize in advance for my disclored thumb - I'm not taking pictures of a dirty thumb. The discoloration is under the nail, probably from bonking it with a hammer.

Do you think this is a BIOS issue, or lack thereof? I have SeaBios installed to run an Ubuntu variant on this machine. Or is it a eDP cable issue?  I'm finding it difficult to nail down a replacement cable (it appears to have 30-pins on each end). There is plenty of room in this laptop, surprising for its size, so I'm not worried about having enough room to house an extra-jumbo cable.

The existing cable is a DD0ZHNLC011 Rev 3B. The below picture is the panel end:
