Hello,

I own for some time two of the above netbooks, both are running an alternate Operating System (FreeBSD) and not ChromeOS. Last year one of them was for repair at acer.com and when it returned, the Touchpad was not working anymore. Analyzing this, it turned out that Acer swapped the Touchpad to a new one, but with another chip on it from the company Elan TECH. Ofcourse it works fine in ChromeOS and newer Linux kernels, but this chip, at the moment at least, is not supported by FreeBSD. I contected here in Germany a reseller of Acer hardware parts, they even claimed to have the TP with Cypress chipset, selled it to me, but when it arrived it was the same with ElanTECH chip on it (one can even read this fine on the small circuit board).

Any ideas how could I buy a new (grey) Touchpad, but with Cypress chip on it?

Thanks in advance

Matthias
