Okay, downloaded the Chrome OS recovery program. I run in to two problems. One it will not recognize the thumb drive.
I have tried multiple drives of various sizes and configurations.
Second problem, if it DOES recognize the drive it gets part way through the process and displays an UNABLE TO WRITE error and directs me to a temp file. Everything is fine, program unpacks then:

That's where it ends. I click okay, and it seems to continue but then when I put the device in my chrome book it isn't recognized.
Thanks,

There is a way to recover the Chrome OS without using USB media:
There is a link to the USB article as well, at the bottom.

The Chrome book responded as described in the solution and restarted. There was about a 10-15 second pause, then two beeps and it returned to the developer screen.
I guess I didn't make it clear that I have replaced the hard drive. (Explained in a previous post).
Thanks,

No, you did not make it clear in this post that you had replaced the hard drive.
Please be sure that you're posting related information in the same post, so it's all together in one spot.
We do not support changing the hard drive in these systems.

Understood. So if the Hard drive is toast, there is no solution other than sending it to a service center? Probably cheaper to replace the entire chromebook.
Thanks for your help.
