I'm also having this WiFi issue. All other devices connect and work just fine, but my Chromebook suffers from random drops in connection, slow speeds and unreliability. Very disapointed. It's going back to BestBuy on Monday since Acer can't seem to offer a solution to this.

Help! I just purchased a lovely ACER 720P Chromebook. [3 weeks ago I purchased a Lenovo 11e Yoga Chromebook and loved it so much, I selected the Acer for my husband.] I had zero connectivity problems with my Lenovo. However, my Acer has been a disaster since 3 days ago when it arrived. I have Time Warner Cable's RoadRunner internet service running with the supplied router. The Acer keeps dropping the cable connection. Moreover, it causes our other devices to drop the cable connection as well. The only way I can get a stable connection is to shut down the new Acer. Then, the other devices run smoothly.
The Acer runs well at other wifi sites, including a public and a private (home) location. However, when I brought it back to my home, it dropped connections immediately. It is now shut down, and I am typing on my Lenovo Chromebook without incident.
I really love the little, lightweight Acer, but I am about to return it for a full refund.
Help! I recognize that this problem has occurred with others on this thread.
What is the next thing I should do? And is it worth it, or should I just send the Acer back to Amazon?

We found the same symptoms - but really only when 2 Chromebooks were using the connection. Later I added a WiFi range extender. One of us connects on the 2.4 GHZ and the other on the 5 GHZ and it seems to have solved the problem for us.
Note that our CenturyLink ADSL modem/router only transmitted on 2.4 GHZ, but my range extender does both 2.4 and 5 GHZ.
Our experience was in a different order to yours. We started with the Acer Chromebook and had no problems. The next Chromebook was an HP Chromebook 14. And that is when our WiFi drop problems started. One of us could oue our Chromebook and the other could use Windows and Android devices at the same time with no problems. As soon as the second Chromebook.....
My guess is that Chromium OS is doing something marginal that some routers are sensitive to. It would be interesting if someone with the WiFi drop problem tries using a VPN to see if that also circumvents the problem. Another possibility - get a second WiFi router and connect it to your TimeWarner supplied cable modem/router. WiFi routers are cheap.

I am so glad I found some people that are putting forth plausible causes and solutions. I'm posting on this thread to inform you guys that it does NOT have anything to do with the fact that it's an Acer. I have the Asus c200M, which when I connect my JBL Charge bt speaker, wifi automatically disconnects then refuses to reconnect until bt is turned off. Asus, like every other brand having similar issues, is clueless, the Chromium Projects devs are baffled, and the omniscient Google has yet to respond.

Why is Acer burying it's head in the sand. There are dozens of users complaining about this on this forum and the response is that there is no report of any problem?!?
Clearly there is a problem.
On dozens of networks, from my home, to a friends, to a coffee shop, it's VERY clear that this chromebook drops connections, has slow internet, and receives a signal only if it's really close by. My old laptop never loses a connection in these situations, has faster better quality video, and works at 50% farther range.
Don't deny the problem. Embrace it. Solve it.

At our school we have 20 C720s plus HP Chromebooks. The wireless works fine on the HPs. It often doesn't on the Acers. As you try to log on the wireless bars wave up and down as it is "Connecting" to our network. Occasionally it connects briefly sometimes long enough to sign in, sometimes not. Effectively these Chromebooks are worthless without the wireless. Are you any closer to solving this problem?

Also having this issue... other laptops can connect fine on the network, just not the C720.
I would really like to hear a solution. Without internet, this chromebook has no purpose.

For what its worth, I found that moving closer to the signal so the I get all the bars seems to help. Or at least that is my prevailing theory - my office with 2 or 3 bars has lots of problems but our reception with full signal almost always works.

Same problem here. All other laptops/smart tv work fine but lately, the Acer Chromebook "can't connect to internet" though system reports I am connected. Must fully power down (pull nattery and cord) and start again. For what it's worth, this was NOT a problem for a few years but recently has started to occur fairly frequently.
btw-- distance/strength/etc are NOT issues-- chromebook just has develiped this weakness to maintaining connection (unbeknownst to the sytem indicator!)

I'm locking this thread as it was originally started one year ago tomorrow and has a trickling of comments that is not indicative of an ongoing or systemic issue.
If you have an issue with the wireless adapter on your Chromebook, please look for other threads with common themes or start a new thread. I would suggest answering the following questions in your post to get the particulars out of the way and help others find the best way to assist with your issue:
Thanks,
