What operating system did your computer come pre-installed with?  Win 7? Win 8.1? Win 10?

    What's your current bios version?

To find your current bios version....

!. Right click on Windows start button

    2. left click on run

    3. type msinfo32

    4. click ok

    Ok thanks.

    I have more questions.

    1. How did you upgrade to Windows 10 Anniversary?  Windows Update? Media creation tool?

    2. When you look in device manager, which wireless adapter do you have? Qualcomm/Atheros or Realtek?

    3. When you look in device manager, which intel graphics driver are you using? What version?

    4. When you look in device manager (sound, video, game controllers), which audio driver do you have? Does it say "Realtek"?

also heres something i ntoiced : in event viewer it says the source of the error 129 is "storachci". in device manager it says the "storahci.sys" driver dates from 2006 vers 10.0.14393.0

maybe it needs to be updated?

when I select "udpate driver" it says the driver is up to date

Have you ever opened the Acer Care Center app and created a USB factory default recovery drive?  And a backup of your apps and drivers?

I don't have any disk usage or freezing problems, but I didn't upgrade to Windows 10 Anniversary with Windows Update. I backed up my important personal files and then wiped my drive with "diskpart clean" and did a clean install of Anniversry with Microsoft's media creation tool. And then I used my "drivers and apps backup" to restore the Power DVD software that came pre-installed on the computer.  That's the only Acer pre-installed software that I use.

I noticed that my graphics driver is much newer than yours.  And I assume that I have a lot more drivers that are much newer than yours.  It seems that Microsoft gives newer drivers when you clean install with media creation tool as opposed to Windows Update upgrade.

The only difference between your computer and my computer from a hardware standpoint is yours has the realtek wifi/bluetooth module and mine has the Qualcomm/Atheros module.  And I'm using a SSD that I bought.

After I clean installed, the only driver that I got from Acer's website was the realtek audio driver.  I let Windows automatically download and install the rest of the drivers......which took almost an hour.

I don't know of a quick simple fix for your problem as I don't know what's causing the problem.

You can try to go back to previous build or reset or clean install, but I don't know if that will fix the problem.

Even though you don't have SSD, the link below has options:

Thanks for the detailed response. Unfortunately I dont have a recovery drive.

I may try to revert to previous version of windows.

re my earlier comment, do you know where to find & how to install the latest storahci driver? or do you not think that could be the problem?

Storahci is just the default Microsoft driver.  Here is the one that is installed on my computer.

If you want to try a quick fix, try downloading the zip file graphics driver below.  And then extract and install via the "have disk method".

The have disk method is described in step-by-step in post below by jose423.

Here's slightly different manual driver installation instructions if you're having trouble with jose's step-by-step.  Jose's "Let me pick......." method is usually more reliable though.

FYI I think I have may have found the solution, it involves power options for "AHCI Link power management" and "PCI Express Link State Power management". So far I have no event 129 errs

See the last message on this page http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19658497

Again this only became a problem after the win10 anniversary update
