try to re-install Intel chipset drivers:

    http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers/4531;-;Aspire%20ZS600

select your operating system and download Intel Chipset drivers and install it, reboot and try again.

    or

press windows key logo + x

    choose device manager

    click on Universal series controller

right click on Intel USB controller and choose to uninstall

once done, reboot and wait until windows re-install drivers

    I'm not an Acer employee.

    Thanks.

I did the Window and 'x' but it didn't work.

Clicked the link and followed your instructions and everything worked fine.  So, I'm impressed and grateful.

There must be some other actual physical fault with my machine [had trouble getting my printer recognized from the beginning].  So, that is no reflection on you - just so you know.  And last week I upgraded to Window 10; and I'm about to revert to 8.1 and perfrom your solution again.

I just reverted to Windows 8.1 and tried the device - it now works.  Thought you should know.
