adding memory to Aspire XC-703

Hi,

I am trying to expand my Aspire XC-703 from 4GB to 8GB.  I purchased a crucial 4GB memory card and put it in the 2nd slot and computer does not come on.  If I put the Curcial 4GB memory card in primary slot after removing the regular memory card it works fine.  Is there something I am missing for upgrading memory.  I have done in other systems and computer just recognizes the new memory automatically.

Thanks,

Eric

    Hello,

    1. The original memory module is Kingston or Hynix?
      Spoiler
      KN.4GB07.015SODIMM.4GB.DDR3L-1600 (Kingston)
      KN.4GB0G.022SODIMM.4GB.DDR3L-1600 (Hynix)
      KN.4GB0G.029SODIMM.4GB.DDR3L-1600 (Hynix)
    2. Could you give me the Crucial part number?
    3. Could you give me the first ten characters of the computer serial number (S/N)? Only the first ten.

    Hi Eric,

As I often say, Hynix is randomly compatible with the other brands.

    You have two options:

    • Buy another Hynix memory module (original)
      OR
    • Buy the same Crucial memory module

    Note: This desktop supports up to 8Gb - DDR3L - 1600MHz (2x4Gb)

I had the same problem with my XC 703 so i put the new module in the first slot and the original module in the second slot and it booted right up and shows 8 GIG memory installed, all is well.
