Hi this morning i was scrolling through my facebook wall and I had been watching a couple of videos that family had posted and i have cheaked all of my settings on facebook and the autoplay function is turned off, however every now and again i will get the same sound of like a news report and it wont stop its like there is a video playing in a loop but i cannot find anything that looks remotely like the woman is talking about and then i logged out of my facebook account and closed the window and it still is happening even while my laptop/notebook is in idel mode.

I have shut down, rebooted, and even did a security check the whole lot and it still happens

Not sure if its because my system updated yesterday or its a bug.

PLEASE help me it is so annoying.

    DamienB,

Not sure which browser you are using, but when I am using Google Chrome it usually has an audio icon on the tab that is playing audio. Typically, audio that is constantly looping the same thing is an advertisement of some sort on a web page. Next time it starts, look at your tabs and see if there is one that has an audio icon on it. If you close out your browser and it is still happening you will need to make sure there is not another one that might be open in the background somewhere still running.

Ok thank you for the reply but i dont have to have the web browser open i havent used my laptop since this has happened and i just start it up and it automatically plays even after we disconnected it from the internet conection ,  my wife went to upload pictures onto it from a sd card and she didnt have anything opened up and the sound was still playing on its own. Would it be a malfunction or something like that.

    DamienB,

If you are getting sound playing without a browser opened at all it sounds like you might have some malware installed on the system. Have you checked "both" browser windows, there is a browser for tile mode and one for desktop mode, they are independent of each other. I know that you said you haven't used the system, not sure if you turn the notebook completely off or just chose shut down and it went into a power saving mode.

I would back up your information, and perform a factory reset as a last resort to make sure you are protected.

Thank you for replying is it at all posible for you to give me a step by step message on how to find them 2 modes as you described in your reply (tile mode and desktop mode) .

I purchesed the laptop brand new in February of this year and when we got it it had McAfee security on it once that trial had expired i had bought a new subscription of trend micro and installed it after uninstaling the McAfee,  would that be a contributing problem.

    DamienB,

Here is the Windows tutorial on the Internet Explorer in tile mode. Tile mode just means that your screen has a bunch of tiles and not the typical desktop screen.

In desktop mode it's really easy to close the Internet Explorer, you just click the "X" in the top right corner.
