I'm trying to replace the hard drive on an Aspire AXC-603-UB17 with a Crucial SSD. I created a recovery disk on a USB flash drive. After replacing the hard drive with the SSD, I went to the BIOS and enabled the boot menu. After re-booting, I was able to boot to the USB drive. I then selected Reset your PC. I get the error "Unable to reset your PC. A required drive partition is missing."

Are you sure you created a full recovery/installation media?

you don't have to select Reset but Install windows (reset will look for an existing windows partition)

Under Acer Recovery Management, I selected Create Factory Default Backup, and checked the option Copy the recovery partition from the PC to the recovery drive.

First screen is keyboard options. I chose US.

Next screen shows Troubleshoot, or Turn off your PC. I chose Troubleshoot.

Next screen: 1) Refresh your PC, 2) Reset your PC, 3) Advanced options. I chose Advanved options.

Next screen: 1) System Restore, 2) System Image Recovery, 3) Startup Repair, 4) Command Prompt, 5) UEFI Firmware Settings.

    No option to install Windows.

honeslty, it looks like a standard windows recovery disk, instead of a full recovery image using recovery partition.

Can you check the total size of data on USB flash drive?

have you formatted the SSD or created any partition?

please check on BIOS too if the HDD password is set to frozen.

No, I thought the recovery is the one that's supposed to create the partition on the SSD and format it.

There is no HDD password on the BIOS.

which windows OS is installed on the HDD?

i'm thinking if it will be worth to install a Vanilla version, downloaded from Microsoft servers.

i would suggest you to do a windows 8.1 clean install, using a Vanilla version:

then you can download drivers and Acer programs from acer support website:
