Intel's Optane Memory support

Hello,

I know that the optane technology was purely for Desktop users and all, BUT it makes perfect sence to add it to the Acer Aspire vx 15 series, i personally just bought this amazing computer but unfortunately had to get the HDD version which is not terrible but its way too far from SSD performance, here's where Optane changes the game by changes those horrible slow read/writes of hdd to something way faster...

The only requirements for Optane are:

  • an empty M.2 slot ( you already have an empty slot if you got an HDD)
  • Kaby lake processor (we got that i7-7700HQ)
  • Intel® RST version 15.5.0.1051, which is the issue here since this pc lineup only has Intel® RST version 15.2.0.1020 as the latest driver

This is far fetched but with the hardware present in the laptop there are no known reasons at least for me not to implement this technology if it's just a simple update of Intels rapid storage or a simple bios tweak... currently my Optane memory is on the way and will find a way to hopefully make it work

here's the same conversation on Intel's side: https://communities.intel.com/thread/115805

thanks for hearing me out Smiley Happy
