I want to upgrade the RAM in my Acer Aspire 5736z-4826.
I want to upgrade the RAM in my Acer Aspire 5736z-4826. I've seen different specs on the laptop. Some people say it can hold 8GB of RAM and some say 4GB. I'm not sure of the exact type of RAM that works. I ordered 2x2GB of DDR3 PC3-12800 RAM from Crucial and it was incompatible and caused the screen to flicker at max resolution. I believe the problem is, it should be DDR3 PC-8500 RAM. Can someone please give me some information since there is ZERO information on the web about this particular laptop. Thanks.

I don't have your computer model, but sometimes when there's confusion about which memory, people use Speccy or CPU-Z or HWinfo to find out which memory is currently installed.

Hello and yes in some cases it says that it can take 8 gig max and most places it says it takes 4 gig max in 2 slots of DDR2 2gig. Also you could get a 1 gig stick and have 3 gig is able to run as well...

you can get that from Kingston,
Or you could if you wanted to use the scanner from Crucial. or you could get the ram from them here...

Both memory sights say 4 gig max... However Crucial doing the search says it is DDR3 12800 1.35V However you did say that didn't work well. So I would assume that it is the DDR2. I have a Laptop that I have ddr3 in but it only supports ddr2 and just was able to work with the ram just not as fast if it was in the machine it was ment for...

Thanks for the help, James.
I was going to try 2x4GB DMS Certified Memory 204 Pin DDR3-1066 PC3-8500 512x64 CL7 1.5V SODIMM. The laptop currently has 1x2GB DDR3. Do you think that would work? I know hardware pretty well, but RAM and older Acer laptops seems to be pretty picky.
