I updated my BIOS (Acer Aspire 3830TG) recently and since then my battery is not charging.

I updated my BIOS from 1.10 to 1.12 and then my battery stopped charging but I can see that in the notification, it is mentioned that power is plugged in and battery is charging but as soon as I remove the power chord, the laptop is out of power. I again flashed to the previous BIOS i.e. 1.10 but it didnot help. Is there any other way to fix my laptop. Practically my laptop has now changed in to a desktop. Smiley Happy

    talk2santosh,

That is an odd one. You already flashed the BIOS to 1.10 and confirmed that is what it shows in the BIOS for the version, to make sure it actually did it? (have to ask!)

It shows that the BIOS version is 1.10 now but the battery doesnt gets charged. I even bought a new battery thinking in case the battery is damaged, but it didnot work either. Is there some way I can fix this problem. It still says plugged in and charging but  battery doesnt charge.

    talk2santosh,

This model has some built in safety features with the battery, since you have changed the battery. There is a battery door switch located under the lowercase cover near RAM and if it is in the off position the battery will not work properly. Check and see if that resolves the issue.

I tried at both stages (i.e. battery switch on and off) but it didnot help. I even flashed the original bios at both stages to see if it makes a difference but still no luck.

    talk2santosh,

The only other thing I can think that it could be is possibly the door switch board is not plugged into the motherboard (looking at service guide).
