    jennifergusonat,

You would need to reload the touchpad drivers. You can access the drivers by opening the Device Manager, clicking the > symbol next to Mice and other pointing devices, right clicking on the installed driver that is listed, click uninstall, then perform a restart.

    jennifergusonat,

Which notebook are you having issues with so we can try to narrow down possible solutions for you? Depending on how old the system is, the touchpad could be going bad and need to be replaced.

    jennifergusonat,

Thanks. Normally if the touchpad is having response issues I would advise to reload the drivers. There are also usually settings in the touchpad itself (Control Panel -> Mouse -> touchpad tab -> properties) where you can "fine tune" some settings.

Should those options fail it could be the touchpad itself having a hardware issue and would require replacing.
