Aspire 603G, Win 8.1

Using Onn Optical Mouse

I am having issues with my mouse hooked up through USB.  The mouse will freak out randomly and I am not sure how to fix it. When I click on a link in Google Chrome it will open multiple pages.  If I am in a program, XCom Enemy Unknown for instance, and click to move, shoot, or do anything, it will just keep clicking.  Other programs are the same.  Sometimes, maybe 2 out of 10 times, the mouse will not register that is being clicked, then it will *catch* up and I will have an insane amount of screens opened. Try to close some tabs and end up closing them all cause the mouse mutli-clicks on random.  So annoying.

I have tried going into the mouse options on control panel and changing the double click speed, but it is not helping. I have moved the mouse to multiple usb ports and having the same issue.

Thought it was the mouse, tried 2 others, different brands and having the same issue.  Tried uninstalling it and rebooting, no help.  The only issue I can see is the mouse is using a default Windows driver dated 2004, but Windows Update tells me it is the most current one.

Any help on narrowing down what the issue is, or can be, will appreciated.  I am drowning in browser tabs here.

    druidish,

Well, here are the Windows 7 USB 3.0 drivers we have posted.

    USB 3.0 Intel USB 3.0 Driver 3.0.0.34 5.2 MB 2015/04/28 Download

I do not see any USB drivers loaded for Windows 8 or Windows 10, which means it is using standard Windows drivers. You can try to uninstall the mouse and have it reinstall to see if that resolves it.

    druidish,

If you are having mouse lag issues there are only a couple things that could be causing it that I can think of.

How full is your C: drive?

Do you experience any other kind of lag or stuttering with your machine?

Does this happen when you only have a browser with one tab open, or only just the game open, or only in specific games?

My disk drive is not full, 223gb free out of 450gb.

There are no other problems with the computer, just this mouse issue.

The issue happens with any number of browser tabs open and since it likes to multi click, I can end up with an insane amount of tabs open.

I only play 1 game at present on my computer, too lazy to install the others, and it happens alot.

If I reboot the computer before doing anything I get pristine mouse usage for about 30 minutes, then the fun begins of multi-clicks or no clicks.

A friend told me to update my USB drivers, but I am unable to since the website is not allowing me to pull up the driver page.

Its not computer breaking, but it is highly annoying.

I have fixed the mouse issue.  While going through Mouse Properties for the umpteenth time I noticed a box that was checked called "Enhance Pointer Precision".  Googled it and it was recommended to uncheck the box.  I did that, rebooted system and mouse works the way it should.   Just have to finish adjusting the click speed now.

Thanks for any attempt to help.
