Acer Aspire XC-605 - Will Acer honour my warranty?

Back in february I posted on this fourm about a problem I had with my PC not switching off after shutting down in Windows. I rang Acer and spoke to them, but they were not much help at all. I was given a case reference number in case it happened again, but there was no useful advice. 

 

About 6 weeks ago and still in the warranty period I rang them again about the same issue. I was told to back up my data and do a factory reset. However, I did not have the money at that point to buy an external drive to back my data up, and since that time I am outside the warranty period. 

 

My question is will Acer honour the warranty if the original calls I made to them about the fault were about 7 months back, and then 6 weeks back given that they only advised me to do the reset on the most recent phone call?
