Hello

My Acer Aspire X3470 - gives this message when booting up (Error: No boot disk has been detected or disk failed).  It beeps once and it sounds like the Hard Drive & Fan are both running.  I upgraded the Windows OS a year ago and it worked for a few weeks; then I stopped using it when it wouldn't boot.  It came preloaded with Windows 7 H.P, and I can't recall which OS I upgraded to.

I have tried the following Troubleshooting: Enter BIOS Setup > F9 Load Default Settings > F10 Save & Exit Setup, issue persists.

The Boot Priority Order shows:

1st Boot Device > EFI Device

2nd Boot Device > Hard Disk

3rd Boot Device > CD&DVD: HL-DT-ST DV...

4th Boot Device > Removable Device

5th Boot Device > LAN

The screen "Please select boot device" only shows one item: P1: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH70N

Please help!  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thank you for your time!

Chase

is your HDD listed under SATA devices on BIOS?

or check if enabling Legacy/LaunchCSM on BIOS will let your system boot

if not, i suspect your HDD is gone.

    I'm not an Acer employee.

Thank you IronFly!  I don't see the HDD in BIOS, I'll go buy an HP instead!  Take care

Sounds like the disk has gotten it's UEFI partition corrupted. The startup isn't seeing any UEFI info on the HD so treating it like it's not bootable. You may be able to repair that by booting from a Windows install image and using startup repair or manually rebuilding the UEFI partition.
