Hi all,
Just recieved my Acer A1-810 today. So far I think its really good. Well until I tried to tether it to my phone using bluetooth. My nexus 7 works fines with the same mobile phone. The problem is when I go into the settings for the paired bluetooth device on the A1 there are only rename and unpair options. Its missing a section called profiles with a option called "internet connection" as seen in the below picture. The A1 does not have this option
I've also noticed I can only pair the devices if I enable discovery on the mobile and pair from the A1. The other way round just causes a commincation error on the phone. Nothing happens on the A1.
Ive tried unparing and even a different phone. Everything works on my nexus 7.
The phones i've tried it on are a HTC Sensation and a Nexus 4.
NOTE: I cant use Wifi Tethering as the wifi hotspots are not allowed at work.
Whats going on?

Do we have an answer to this problem as yet?
I also wish to reduce my power consumption by using Bluetooth tethering.

With tethering app are you trying? I've tether my A100 easily with FoxFi, and it has a bluetooth mode.

Using the built in settings within the tablet. Tethering to a Samsung S4 (GT-I9505 Android version 4.3). As per above the option is not appearing on the tablet.

Are you attempting to tether the tablet in order to use your mobile phone as a router/internet connection ? I tether my HTC by enabling the with/fi hotspot setting on the phone then go in to the wireless settings on the tablet, look for HTC hotspot, then connect both, I can then surf using the phones data connection.

Hi. There's no problem with WiFi tethering. This query is about using bluetooth tethering. I have no problems tethering my wife's Ipad using bluetooth. But as mentioned above the tethering option as shown in the picture above is not available on the Acer.

Your situation is now clear, after doing some more research on this it would appear that you are not alone in having problems attempting a bluetooth internet tether with the A1-810, as you say, in Paired Bluetooth Devices, the option "internet" is missing, further to this there is no option in the More/ VPN section of settings, it would therefore appear that bluetooth tethering is not possible. There are quite a few threads on this topic on the net, here is a link which, unfortunately could shed no light on the problem and one which explains the process in detail, I suspect that the original poster, above and in the first link, are one and the same :

Thanks for your prompt reply. As you mentioned, there appears to be no answer. A shame as Bluetooth is definately the answer to those of us who have the mobile in the pocket and tablet in hand most of the day. Wifi tethering is overkill and has me running for a recharge on the mobile before the day is out.

I gather you tried FoxFi and it also didn't work?

No, not aware of this software. Have looked and it appears to be aimed at allowing WifI tethering for phones where the carrier has closed out the tethering option. My Samsung S4 (provided by Optus,Aus) allows tethering both Wifi and bluetooth. They both work with the Ipad, but the bluetooth enablement on the Acer does not.
Thanks for the suggestion.
