How do I stop Facebook Messenger from updating itself back to its current version (which does not work)

The older version that someone posted the DL link to works fine but I have to keep uninstalling the new one when it updates itself and reinstalling the old ones that works.

Is there any way to stop it updating itself automatically??

Find Facebook messenger in play store and uncheck "update automatically"

I hope Acer is looking into this and that we get a patch soon... this update is clearly botched in some things

Can I set this up so separate users (my wife and I) can have their own logins/set of apps etc.??

Yes.

Go into Settings > Users > Add user or profile

I see Accounts and Add Account, but that just enables me to add stuff like Email, Amazon, Dropbox, etc.

I was hoping for something like when you start up or wake it, you get a sign-in page for which person is goig to use it, and a screen with the personal apps/info/emails of me or my wife would appear.

Is that possible here?

(I may just be blindly overlooking something obvious, btw, so don't think I'm too stupid!)

Yes, that's what that action that I've posted would enable. It would be like as if you were signing signing into a computer.

Have you upgraded to KitKat? Don't think it's available on jelly bean.

In settings (gear icon) you should see Users as a listed item. Open that and there should see + Add user or profile Open that and a Add window will open. Choose User

As Fitton25 said check and see what OS version you are on Go to settings Choose About from the list. Under Android version it is 4.2.2 (jelly bean) Select System updates on the same screen select check now from the window that will pop up. If your Android version is 4.4.2 then you are on Kit Kat and the add a user option should be available.
