You have to install the Google Now Launcher.
But you have to instal GNL manually, from an apk (search on the web), because the one from the Play Store is only for Nexus devices and GPE devices.
Or try Nova, Apex. Both have the trasparent bar, and can be installed directly from the Play Store.

Netfan and others who have the 4.4 Kit Kat now working on their A1-810 tablets. Can you please see whether the Mircast option is there in Settings>Display>Wireless Display(Miracast) now. If Acer has activated Miracast on A1-810 with the Kit Kat update, then it will make this tablet one of the very few on the market to have both wired HDMI and wireless Miracast video output.
Awaiting prompt replies by people who have updated to Kit Kat 4.4 on their A1-810 tablet.

Roastchook, are you able to move downloaded apps from internal memory to SD card after moving to Kit Kat. Or is the problem still there like it was with the stock OS. Also, does the move to Kit Kat allow multi user support now. Previously both these actions were not possible.
Thanks.

Yes. There is multi user. You can add a new profile with full access or limitations to the content.

Still new to all of this so forgive the silly question, Why do you need to downaload a launcher to get the bar to be transparent?
