plug it into another usb slot, that may cause Windows to re-install the driver.

I have had a logitech mouse that the driver became corrupt and stopped working.  You can go into device management, type devmgmt.msc in run command, or access it through control panel, find the mouse device, and tell device manager to update the driver.  You can also uninstall the driver, then rescan for devices, that will cause it to reinstall.

If that mouse is truly dead and fails to power, device manger will not be able to display it.  That is how plug and play works; it thinks you have removed it.
