    musicpuppet,

Are you referring to the HDMI cable that comes with the system? If you are, it is for the HDMI-In connection on the unit if you want to connect an external to it and use it like a monitor.

I have the same question. I have a Z3-615. The cable that comes with it is a USB cable with the A end being a standard USB 3.0 male type end and the B end being a micro USB 3.0 male connector. According to the product sheet that came with my computer the "Aspire Link" is the micro USB 3.0 connection on the left side of the screen (under trhe OSD button).

Obviously it's unsusual for a computer to come with a micro USB 3.0 port, so I have the same queston, what is it for and how do I use it? The driver for it comes from Magic Control Technologies and I assume from the Acer blurb that I should be able to connect a laptop through it (in a Laplink Cable type of way?). When I try, my laptop connects to a USB 3.0 device (my Z3 615) but I can't do anything. Do I need to install some software on my laptop too? Any help? I updated my Z3 615 to Windows 10. Maybe it worked in 8.1?

    mertles,

If you have another PC equipped with Aspire Link, simply connect the Acer Z3 via a USB 3.0 cable and instantly access and transfer files or use the keyboard and mouse to control both devices.

Thank you. Works a treat and has the features I was hoping it would have. The step I was missing was installing the Acer software on my laptop.
