GPU Overheated.

Hi,

I bought Acer Aspire 5745G 6323(Intel core i7 720QM, 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD, 15.6" screen) in May 2011 and am currently using it in India. I am facing problems with my GPU(Nvidia Geforce 420M). The computer seems to have slowed down. Further, my GPU temperature is constant at 234 degree Celsius! I checked it both in windows and in Linux operating systems. I would like to know if this is a problem with the temperature sensor or whether the GPU itself is spoilt. Apart from the temperature and slow operations I find nothing wrong with my system.

Thanks in advance.

234 degrees celcius is a very high temperature. It sounds as if the monitoring software or hardware is reporting an incorrect temperature. You will want to ensure that all cooling fans are clean and fully operational.
