I ordered the restore disc from acer and it is stuck in the Microsoft 2010 download for two days how can I get through the restore I don't want to turn computer off

Hi Chinester

I'm presuming you're on WIndows 7 or Vista?

AlaunchX.exe is the program that installs applications & drivers on your system after recovery. If this is stuck trying to load Office 2010, then try the following:

Switch off your laptop & restart again in safe mode (by continually tapping F8 when you see the Acer logo). When you're on your desktop, press Windows key & R - this will bring up the RUN box. Type in MSCONFIG, then click the Startup tab. Uncheck the box that says AlaunchX, click Apply, then Close. Click Restart, and let your computer restart in normal mode. This will stop the program from starting on boot.

Of course, you will find that some drivers or applications have not installed. Go to the Acer support site and download them from there if necessary.
