The keyboard is functioning, but not charging?  or appears to be charging slowly?

The following article might address what is occurring:

Charging both the ICONIA Tab W510 and keyboard dock batteries

You may want to attempt charging both over night.

    Hi

Latching on to this thread, as I seem to have the exact same issue described by the original poster.

The little LED in my keyboard dock blinks red when plugged in to a wall socket and the tablet is docked. Plugged into a wall socket without the tablet docked, the LED on the keyboard dock doesn't even light up.

The keyboard itself is working fine.

When hovering over the battery icon in the system tray, it says battery 2 is not present. However, when opening device manager it clearly states there are 2 batteries when the tablet is docked. If I remove the tablet from the keyboard dock device manager will say there is only 1 battery present. This leads me to believe that the battery in the keyboard dock needs to be activated somehow. Is this correct, and if so, how do I do that?

This is a brand new machine.

As a side note, when I go to the Acer support site and type in the S/N, it says it is not valid. I have double an triple checked that I made no typos. Is this just because it's so new the sale hasn't been registered yet, or should I be concerned about this? (e.g. did I buy fenced equipment/from a dodgy retailer/etc.?).

Thank you for any help with this issue.

Regarding invalid S/N :  I think that you have to register your purchase at Acer.com for your country to get your warranty activated.  Then you can get warranty related support responses from Acer.

If going to SUPPORT and not REGISTRATION, try entering the SNID. That should be 11 digits, all numbers, and the fourth digit should be zero.

Did you find a solution to your problem Morten?  I am having the exact same problem.

I have found a solution to my problem as described in Morten's post.

Let me first start out by telling you that when I couldn't get the dock battery to charge I called Acer Support.  I spent an hour with them.  They have terrible customer service.  First I dealt with the front line round of stupid questions.  Then I got to the second round.

After going through some troubleshooting steps with the "senior support technician", he said that he would like me to send in the tablet and the dock in for repair!  How outrageous!  The keyboard dock was BRAND NEW.  I would expect that they would have the courtesy to at the very least send me a new one.  I told him that I would like someone to tell me how to charge the keyboard dock.  He didn't answer me.  How is it that Acer Support doesn't even know how to charge their own product?

    Here is the solution:

    1.  Separate the dock, tablet and charger from each other.

    2.  Connect the tablet to the dock.

    3.  Plug in the charger.

You should now see a solid red light on the keyboard dock.  It is now charging.

If and when I buy another Windows tablet I can assure you that I will not be purchasing Acer, simply because their support sucks, and they provide very little documentation on how their products work.

When I had problems with the wifi on my tablet those jerks had me do a system restore, which at first they lied and told me I needed a disk and a usb dvd drive.  I spent probably 40 hours on it and in the end it still didn't work properly.  The solution?  A new set of drivers was released a day after I got my tablet back to normal, and the drivers fixed the wifi issue.  DOES ANYONE AT ACER SUPPORT KNOWTHEY ARE DOING?

I just got my Iconia w510 yesterday and I am having the same problem as the people above and it is frustrating that a product doesn't work when it's brand new.

Westcott, your "solution" does not work for me.

but there has got to be a way for the computer to recognize the battery 2 aswell. Now it says "Battery 2: Not available".

    Fixes?
