Acer Aspire v3 771g Backlight Issue

Hi,

I have a issue with my new acer aspire v3 771g notebook. It's only 6 month old and 1 day before its backlight turns off completely. Now I only can see the screen by droping some high light on screen. When I connect externel monitor with VGA port it works fine. I saw many post on internet with this issue. In many forums I found people resolved the problem by flashing bios but I do not know how to flash bios. Anyway some one told me to drain battery 3 times will resolve the issue so I did. During 2nd time I got backlight back and got very very happy but after restart again backlight gone. So any one here please help me how to flash bios or how can I resolve this issue. Thank you

Re: Acer Aspire v3 771g Backlight Issue

First, I suggest you remove the screen bezel and KB and try re-seating the video ribbon cable connectors at the screen and MBN. Don't forget to remove the battery when try this. Then re-connect the KB ribbon *without* putting everything back together and test it with the battery. Cold boot it a couple of times to make sure this resolved the problem before re-assembling.

If this doesn't work, it's possible your video cable has a conductor break oftentimes in the hinge area particularly if you have a habit of opening and closing the lid everytime you step away from the machine or put it in standby. You can get a new cable, usually on Amazon, for under $20 with free shipping from the supplier. I'd try this before messing with the bios.
