HI,

Having an issue switching the audio (headphone) out to an input so i can use an external sound source and then ultimately record something. I've tried selecting the 'stereo mix' option in the system applications part on the mixer which is on the bottom right of the toolbar, which says you can monitor external sound sources through the speakers but don't hear anything. All i get when I disconnect the external lead is a weird vibrating feedback tone from the internal speakers, even if they are set fairly low.

Any ideas??

so you are able to switch to the "stereo mix" option in the recording devices window?

what program are you using to record the sounds? is it picking up any audio or just recording nothing and you get the feedback when you boost the volume?
