My friend Jenny owns a Acer Aspire 3100 laptop that will boot to ACER screen and then reads press F2.  It does say please wait after F2 press, many days now. Soldered in a new CMOS battery, so it had time to reset the bios. Laptop battery fully charged and with power cord plugged and will not boot to Vista. Is there a tech or user out there that can advice me how to use that hard copy of BIOS stored on the motherboard to reload into CMOS or how to really reset it to factory default? I can use DEL button at first power to get to Phoenix script page that say press F2 to boot and ACER window opens to plaese wait again. The Sata HD is identifiable on my PC when plugged into sata port, its functional. Anyone know the magic reload bios default data? Looking forward to fixing her laptop she loves so much.
